This necklace is made with fine silver 99.25 wire and anodized aluminum sapphire blue patina wire that holds pendants created with the leftover fragments of my sculptural encaustic paintings and collages, encased in resin.

By placing this necklace over its source of material, I wanted to reinforce the intimate connection between my jewelry and my sculptural artworks. They are not only made of the encaustic leftovers of artworks such as “Nebulae”, (I purposely stored these fragments for future use, during the create-destroy process of making the “Pompeii” series), but the ideas behind my jewelry design are rooted in the same concept that support the core of my art: memory. Thus, from this perspective, my jewelry pieces are the movable extensions of my large sculptural artworks.

The beauty and the uniqueness of these remnants inspired me to create a jewelry collection. From this perspective, the jewelry pieces are movable extensions of my artworks, in which I explore similar ideas about the passage of time.
